I *did* email my kid’s teacher and ask him to let me know if my kid starts to use his leadership skills for evil. 🤣 My kid wasn’t one of the leaders or organizers today, but he said he did chant with the others.

(Quotes around “only”because I’m sure there are people who don’t take kids seriously and think these kids are just being cute & silly. I am NOT one of those people.)

It gives me hope that our kids ARE paying attention to the world around them. They’re inspired to stand up & speak out. It may “only” be some 8- and 9-year-olds pissed off about tiny slides & a lack of swings, but they managed to organize themselves around a single message & make themselves heard.

A few of us parents talked with the principal this evening. He understands & echoes the kids’ frustration—it’s a district-level decision, and construction began before he came to the school— and he has been trying to get improvements where he can. And he definitely appreciates the kids’ enthusiasm.

The third-graders at my kid’s school apparently started a protest at recess today to express their disgust with the new playground they got this year. There were signs and chants and everything. My kid is a third-grader and I had no idea about any of it until after school. But I freaking LOVE it.

STAND and DEMAND the immediate return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

As a Missouri resident, I could see everything that’s happening coming a mile away because they already did it to my state. Defunded schools, kicked kids off Medicaid, refused the will of voters, attacked marginalized communities, and sold off farmland to foreign companies.

Went to today’s @thepwhl.com Takeover Tour matchup in St. Louis between Ottawa & Boston. It was a great game, & it was awesome to see so many people there supporting women’s hockey! Lots of youth players in their sweaters. I hope this league continues to grow & considers StL when they expand!

ICYMI: Rep. @justinjpearson.bsky.social had some words for Rep. Farmer after Farmer grossly disrespected Pearson for missing time to grieve when his brother recently took his own life with a gun.
