Seasonal transition : Crystal Spring Farm Trail, Brunswick.

Remaining patches of snow convey "news" of the winter winter winds and storms : pine needles, twigs, broken branches, brown leaves and tiny seeds.

First post on BlueSky. Testing the waters to see if it will be worth switching from Instagram.

European Linden tree, Phippsburg Center : 250 years old.

Linda and I recently attended a concert performance by the Hadacol Bouncers at the Phippsburg Congregational Church. Featuring the traditional lineup of banjo, tenor guitar, piano, tuba, drums, trombone, clarinet and trumpet, the band put on a lively concert of New Orleans and Chicago-style jazz, including classics by Fats Waller, James P. Johnson, Louis Armstrong and Professor Longhair. Our friend Tom Whitehead plays piano with a group of musicians who clearly love playing this music together.

The concert also gave me the opportunity to say β€œhello” to another old friend, the 250-year-old European Linden tree that towers over the white steeple church atop a hill overlooking the Kennebec River. It’s listed as the largest European Linden tree in Maine. Amazing to think that it was planted in 1774 by seeds brought from England. Long may it live!
