The National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition (NABS) office will be closed on Friday, January 23rd for staff community service and well-being. We stand with our community and our people.

Since July 1, 2025, the National Indian Boarding School Digital Archive (NIBSDA) has digitized nearly 30,000 pages, advancing truth-telling and expanding access to records and historical information for survivors and descendants.

New Mexico OHP Postponement Announcement:

Due to the ongoing government shutdown and the widespread flight delays and cancellations impacting travel across the country, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone our upcoming OHP event in New Mexico to January 26-30, 2026.

Today, on Veterans Day, we honor all who have served and sacrificed for our country. Native Americans and Alaska Natives serve in the U.S. Armed Forces at a higher rate than any other group, a reflection of deep traditions of courage, community, and responsibility.

We congratulate Jim LaBelle, Sr. (Inupiaq),this year's recipient of Alaska Governor's Award for Distinguished Service in the Humanities. For more than two decades, Jim has worked to uplift experiences of Alaska Native students at boarding schools run by the US BIA between 1878-1975.

The FSPA have transferred its Marywood Franciscan Spirituality Center to the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

At NABS, we honor and support these efforts as vital steps in acknowledging the truth and repairing the generational harm caused by the Indian boarding school era.
