Partners In Health (PIH)/ Inshuti Mu Buzima (IMB) are actively participating in the 2nd International Conference on PEN-Plus in Africa (ICPPA 2025), alongside experts from over 20 African countries.

It will serve 60+ births/month, 70+ pregnant women in regular follow-up, and more than 17,000 women of reproductive age from neighboring sectors. A milestone for maternal health: the facility now offers maternity, ANC, immunization, family planning, and consultation services.

By 2025, Butaro had completed a major expansion and transitioned into a level two teaching hospital, now serving over 45,000 patients annually, and training the next generation of health professionals.

In 2011, Butaro opened its doors with a focus on patient-centered design, advanced diagnostics, and compassionate care. Over the years, it expanded its services to include oncology, maternal health, surgery, and more; becoming a lifeline for thousands across the region.

Between 2010 and 2025, Butaro District Hospital has grown from a bold construction project on a rural hillside into a regional center of excellence in care and training. Launched by @partnersinhealth.bsky.social and the Ministry of Health to bring dignified, high-quality services to Butaro.

In 2011, Butaro opened its doors with a focus on patient-centered design, advanced diagnostics, and compassionate care. Over the years, it expanded its services to include oncology, maternal health, surgery, and more; becoming a lifeline for thousands across the region.

Today @pih_rwanda joins Rwandans and friends of Rwanda to commemorate the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda. We stand in solidarity with the community to ensure that the memory of lives lost remains alive and that the lessons learned are never forgotten.
