As for he medals and letters. My estranged aunt has them. Again, family issues that I have no idea the full extent of.

How i feel when someone blocks me:

Always remembered when visiting he'd have MASSIVE jars of hand soap, bath soap, and shampoo from the products he sold at home in the two bathrooms at my grandparents' home.

Grandfather on my mom's side was a WWII vet but worked a desk job in Washington. He was proud he never went to the European or Pacific campaigns.

After the war, he was a salesman for cleaning chemicals for hospitals.

My grandmother had his medals and letters he wrote to her. Plus a Arisaka rifle and bayonet. One random day my dad took that item because well he knew that's all he'd get from my grandmother aka family issues.

I still wonder what my grandfather did, or what kind of medals he had.

My dad said he never talked about it other than these two things:

#1 He knows he's going to heaven because Guadalcanal was hell.

#2 He broke down to my dad saying he had to kill, and all the training just never prepares you for that.

Grandfather on my dad's side? WWII vet who was at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked it, M.I.A. and considered dead at Guadalcanal. He survived, US Marines found him (wounded), and got sent back to the US.

He never really talked about it to me when I was little (he died when I was 11).
