It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Rud Turnbull. Rud was a devoted colleague in our department for over 40 years, during which time he wrote many seminal articles and books, mentored countless students and colleagues, and lead the field through his advocacy. And he was a source of kindness, wisdom, and inspiration to all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Rud brought his passion and dedication to special education, dignity, and social justice to everything he did, leaving a lasting impact on the field, our department, and the work we do.

Our thoughts are with Rud’s family, especially his wife Ann and their children, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Rud!
