I hate to break it to you, but so many games are made in UE5 and run just fine. A select number of popular AAA games being poorly optimized doesn't mean the engine by default is bad. It's the same nonsense argument as saying Unity is bad because so many terrible shovelware games are made in Unity

Even for older games, the whole "it's been out for 20 years!!!" argument falls apart when so many of the games in question aren't readily available, and most people don't understand or aren't interested in emulation. It's not like movies that are usually made readily available on any device.

Everyone I ever talked to was SO RIGHT about Twilight Princess. EVERYONE.

I've never known anyone who liked it a ""normal"" amount and now I GET IT.

For context most of my previous programming knowledge was incredibly basic programs I made in college with C# and Java that typically only had a handful of functions

Other than that I've mostly used Blueprints in UE4/5, I might give C++ a shot with UE5 in the near future since it can do a bit more

trying obscure programming/scripting languages is really interesting

I've experimented a fair bit with UnrealScript, aka Unreal Engine's old language before UE4

It's helped me understand object-oriented programming a lot more and has helped me use that with modern UE
