exactly, plenty of legit reasons to not want to support certain games. just irritates me when people automatically look at every new game with such petty disdain if it doesn't cater to them and try to pass off their baseless hating and schoolyard-level bullying of fans and developers as "criticism"

to be clear, I am aware that it's a nuanced issue, but I do still feel like 90% of all online gaming discourse is incredibly disingenuous, as a lot of people are just gleefully chomping at the bit for games to fail and for the people who made them to lose their jobs

(also BOTW and TOTK are unironically my favorite games in the series and two of my favorite video games of all time, so this example doesn't really do much to sway my opinion LOL)

I think trends are fine, they don't automatically invalidate other games existing. as I said there are an infinite number of games out there, one game or genre not being to your taste isn't that big a deal when you look at the literal ocean of games that you still have yet to experience

the cool thing about video games is there's practically an infinite number of them. if you see a game that you don't like, you can just ignore it and find another one. or two. maybe even three! it really is that simple

literally cannot relate less to the feeling of wanting every new game to fail, even if it's part of a series or genre I have no interest in whatsoever

I really hate how so much of gaming "discourse" nowadays just boils down to "this game/series wasn't made specifically for me, therefore it's trash and should not be allowed to exist"

I wanna say 2013's X and Y were the first "mainline" titles to go fully 3D. the games now are generally much more vast and open-ended, and you're no longer limited to the d-pad for movement, thus you have full control of the camera. and the games always feature a combination of new and old Pokemon.
