but i'm working on the next chapter on my personal project and plan to post there later so... I just hope I can get enough traffic fwiw

Still working on my #OC comic, now getting started on the fun (or "fun", with the quotes, depending on how I feel about it at times) part - linework.

Since it's a pretty action-y part I somehow stretched the draft to 6 pages... and will be sticking with it.

Now with the major fanart plans out of the way... time to resume my original comic series. Which has been in drafts since the last 2 months...

Been quite some time since the last time I had a WIP of this.
And now they're ready for the next fun(?) part of this - dialogue boxes, dialogue text, and hurrrrr -- typesetting.

Good thing is that I managed to finish this in preparation for that part of the overall tasks to finish the chapter. #OC

Lately I felt like for some people they have a weird sense of entitlement to have artists be a onestop 24/7 0-cents-paid vending machine for the stuff they want, otherwise they just, y'know, tell a computer to spit hundreds everyday and tell us to shove it with our very human boundaries and limits.

Listen I know capitalism is forcing artists to feel like vending machines for pictures and having your sense of self worth tied to artistic output is a bitch. Just take my hand we’re going into the fucking woods

Artists feel pressured to make new art too quickly at the moment. Normalise artists fucking disappearing for months. Just walk off into the woods for a year and come back with a single sketch. It’s good for you

This has been stuck since last month in drafts due to life stuff and my energy levels not being quite up to it so I was spending very little time each day trying to work on this. But it's done now, yay (flat)

Haven't really updated my stuff here ever since the turn of the year, but at least I'm starting to work on my originals again.

Conversation below totally not with myself.

"Bah, 1 hour and a half max before we need to call it a night and go to bed..."
"But at least we have *1 hour and a half.*"

for people I know and honestly, I have no love for overexertion.

You don't have 30hrs a day. Don't pretend like you do. It's good to be enthusiastic, teaching yourself "discipline" to concentrate on your craft.

You know what a good discipline in your craft is?
Knowing when to call it a day.

And I also want to have enough rest for the day. I want to be able to say, "Yeah, that's enough drawing" for the day or just, plain straight up choose when I want to draw.

And to my dear fellows, do not take confuse your own enthusiasm with overworking yourself. I've witnessed where this got blurry

I'll be honest.

If I also have to spend extra effort to show myself out there, I won't get all the time to do what I want. And you get no rest for it, and for some reason people glorify that. Nope, I want to make stuff, I don't care if people know me or not, as long as they can see stuff I made.

Yup, it would be nice if artists were able to be artists, not performers

this era of marketing yourself to market your art is especially difficult on marginalized people. there are actual dangers, especially in this current climate, to try and put profit behind your identity. streaming, vlogging, hawking your lived experience for social and monetary currency ; its taxing

The ideal artistic life for me would be just making stuff and no one even knows my name or what I look like and I'm not remotely famous and still can make a living. But that doesn't exist anymore. You have to relentlessly remind people you're a real human being who deserves to be paid for their work
