The 氵means water! Imagine them as water droplets, it’s the semantic part of the character that give meaning;
And yeah 每 originally means a mother with a head ornament, and it’s the phonetic part of the character that originally gave the pronunciation, but the phonetics has change due to history

Left side of 明 is “日”, which is the sun;
Both the sun and the moon are bright, so it means brightness; when the sun becomes bright agains it’s tomorrow, so “明日” becomes tomorrow

It’s different sometimes just due to fonts/character sets and text rendering, in traditional Chinese 空 has strokes in the 穴 part that simplified Chinese simplifies as two dots, and kanji is closer to traditional characters; some rendering weirdness happens due to the Unicode CJK Unified Ideographs.

It’s 穴 (hole) + 工(work, here lending the sound gōng, morphed to “kōng”), so the symbol means “empty”; and empty holes can be written “空穴” (empty hole), while the sky is 天空 (the empty in the sky).
When Chinese characters were adapted as kanji, a lot of phonetics were lost, but they help with memory

the little parts usually have meaning to them, and the kanji often contains part of the meaning; it’s really helpful to try to understand the etymology of the little parts, and in schools teachers do give them nicknames as well

it‘s possibly from a jutting out arm of the oracle bone script of 鬼 (ghost, part of 魔), perhaps representing a person wearing a mask dancing; then around late Shang and west Zhou the part is emphasized in bronze inscriptions, then during the Qin dynasty it’s interpreted as 厶 in small seal script.
