Canada loses measles elimination status β€”Β as does the entire Americas region Canada has formally lost its measles elimination status, the country’s public health agency announced, triggering the loss of that status throughout all of the Americas.

As expected, Canada has lost its measles-free status because of the long-running outbreak there. With it goes the #measles elimination status of the entire zone of the Americas, the only division of the #WHO to ever have achieved measles elimination. www.statnews.com/2025/11/10/m...

How is the O-Train still SO TERRIBLE. Where are the adults? How can people be such negligent public stewards? Had to wait 15 mins for line 2. Got to Bayview and had to wait 7 mins for a train coming in 2 mins. Not to mention how insanely expensive it is. At this point you may as well just walk.

1. This past #flu season was a really hard one, especially on kids. 12 more pediatric flu deaths were reported to #CDC last week, bringing the total for the year so far to 216. That's the highest single season total for a non-pandemic year since CDC started collecting pediatric flu death data.

3 MEASLES AND VITAMIN A
Measles is making a comeback around the world
Every year, measles is brought into the US by unvaccinated travelers who get infected by the virus while in other countries. Anyone who is not vaccinated is at risk of getting measles. Misinformation continues to circulate about the role that vitamins, specifically vitamin A, plays in managing the disease.
1. Vitamins do NOT prevent measles
Only the measles vaccine can prevent measles-All children should get 2 doses of MMR (measles-mumps-rubella) vaccine to prevent measles
Vitamins should NOT be used to prevent measles
2. Giving high doses of vitamins may be dangerous
Routinely getting an overload of vitamins can actually hurt you-For example, too much vitamin A can cause dizziness, nausea, headache, coma, and even death
K
Due to the danger of overdoses, high-dose vitamin A should only be used in the management of measles under the direct supervision of a healthcare professional once a diagnosis is confirmed
3. The best way to prevent measles is through vaccination
Stay up-to-date with all recommended vaccines, including MMR
Stay healthy by exercising and eating a balanced diet. The best sources of vitamin A include: milk, eggs, cheese, fortified breakfast cereals, leafy green vegetables, orange vegetables, and fish.
