That’s an interesting idea that never occurred to me— but you’re correct. I had a relative some years ago who lived in South Alabama. She would visit here on the Cape, but she never wanted me to visit her there because “You’re a Yankee, you’ve got a big mouth and you don’t know when to shut it.”

I hear what you’re saying, Joe. Both you and Audry are correct in that the national service requirement would do enormous good- both to the student workers & the beneficiaries of their work. But the problem with making things mandatory is the natural impulse of the human being to wiggle out of it.
