Another concern is that Trump knows Ukraine hasn’t had elections while they’ve been at war. Trump will clearly try to replicate this in America.

Turns out lowering bills, protecting the NHS and rebuilding our public services is really popular.

This is just the beginning - people are seeing through the attacks and demanding something better.

And we're making hope normal again - together.

Yesterday was a truly special day as I returned to my beloved Vienna to receive a prize for a book that I conceived and wrote in that same city. Moved by the presence of friends in the audience and so thankful to everyone who voted for me.

Based on that skeet I like it so far! : ) I’ll look out for it for sure.

And our dean kicked off orientation week saying how vital good business leadership was to the world given its impact and sheer number of hours people spend at work. So, a bit of a contradictory message for us. Just like in the real world.

I’d be very curious to hear the synopsis of this (as a start). My corp strategy prof on day 1 of my Michigan MBA said, β€œthe purpose of a business is to make money.” Legally, considering fiduciary responsibility, he’s not wrong. But that’s a hollow way to view the world.

The islands go so much further down too. Philosophy -> ethics, politics, metaphysics, epistemology, logic, aesthetics. And each of those have so many subdisciplinary islands. There’s a need for generalists to stitch together the best of the specialists, but that is unsupported as far as I can tell.

When β€œthe centre” produces vast inequality, climate destruction, and genocide, well then it’s time to call that extremism.

Bazinga over and over! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

So great to see Zach get more airtime to demonstrate the coherence, compassion, beauty, and excitement in the full Green Party platform.

I wasn’t happy with how I left our philosophy discussion, but on reflection it was much more about epistemology and what I think is the role of evidence. I’ll focus on that next time.

Ooh! I’m happy to hear that. Probably because politics is much more about the material world and we can more easily agree about that.

BREAKING: Greens smash it at the parliamentary by-election in Manchester: winning 41% of the vote!
4000 majority!
Labour 3rd in a β€˜safe’ seat!
Absolutely seismic.

What a result!! Huge congratulations to the amazing Hannah Spencer - everyone in Gorton and Denton has just made history. This result shows @greenparty.org.uk can win anywhere, that the politics of hope can win over the politics of hate & there is no longer any such thing as a Labour safe seat πŸ’š

Second favorite:

"The Oxford Handbook of Spontaneous Thought...describes the routines of highly accomplished historical figures...who achieved great success despite working a relatively short day (4-5 hrs) followed by lots of walks, afternoon naps, loads of unstructured time, and long vacations."

Inside voice: what can our thoughts reveal about the nature of consciousness? The long read: Scientists and philosophers studying the mind have discovered how little we know about our inner experiences

My favorite quote in this long read:

β€œTo focus on conscious thoughts is like focusing on the leaves of a tree and trying to understand them in isolation,” she said. β€œThe tree is the mind, and there’s a lot more to the mind than consciousness.”

Opinion | Roundup needs legal protections. This is the wrong way to do it. Glyphosate’s link to cancer has long been tenuous at best.

I've been holding onto my subscription to WaPo, mostly out of loyalty to #CarolynHax, but this is the last straw. Glyphosate does not need protection!!! The American people need protection from toxic chemicals & our regulatory system needs protection from corporate interference.

Also not mentioned, Europe is filthy stinkin rich in public wealth created for the people.

β€œShould Europe envy the US for its tech sector? No. Tech generates a big negative externality, because among other things it generates tech-bro billionaires, who are corrupting our politics.”
