Tolkien's novel "The Two Towers" employs rowans as the signature tree for the Ent, Quickbeam. The forest of Fangorn, where Quickbeam and other Ents live, is populated with numerous rowans that were said to have been planted by male Ents to please the female Ents ❤️

Our photograph shows a close-up of a fallen autumn leaf resting on a bed of small, smooth pebbles that l took yesterday in my garden here in Ireland. The leaf is golden brown and covered in clear water droplets that glisten like tiny glass beads, catching the light beautifully. Around it, other leaves in shades of deep red and rusty orange are scattered, damp from recent rain. A small patch of green moss adds a burst of color and texture beside the leaf, contrasting with the earthy tones of the stones. The overall mood of the image feels calm and reflective, capturing the quiet beauty of nature after rainfall, a moment suspended in stillness and light. And finally, our picture is finished off with a simple white border frame.

Aberdeen, Scotland, 57.2°N, 1:45 AM local time. Taken with a sufficiently ancient & cheap camera that it basically looked like this to the naked eye, no joke.

A photograph from my mom of farmland outside Middleburg, VA, this month. So early in the morning the fog that's collected in every dip and crease of the gentle hills has yet to burn away. (false dawn photograph of a small stone building and a grassy slope, beyond which are only layers of fog extending into the distance, where tree tops can be distantly seen, showing through, and a silver blue sky with rosy light just peeping over the edge of the left of the shot)

A chipmunk on a sunflower that has gone to seeds. It is standing upright and its cheeks are full of seeds.

This little guy is in heaven with all of the sunflower seeds everywhere. I’ve already saved the ones I’m going to use next year. The rest goes to the local wildlife. Sometimes the birds get frustrated with my presence, like what the hell are you doing in our cafeteria? 😆 #gardening #nature
