Sorry. Misread what you were trying to say. I’ve encountered a lot of handwringing elsewhere and jumped to a wrong conclusion.

It’s incredibly hard. I have tried to get students to envision the world they want to see and the hegemony is just too great. I suggested starting small, like something about their res. hall, & band together around that. I told them organizing & working together is something that requires practice.

Trump is not the first existential crisis the world has faced nor will he be the last. You’re presupposing that the US has ever been something worth totally persevering. It grinds up the powerless and has always been something to fight.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this for years especially as my students & audiences want to know how to engage with the problems around them. I am a physicist & am learning about organizing as I go (your book is super useful), & what I have started telling them is to find others to fight with them.
