also i'm sure that type of position is highly coveted and there are probably a jillion applicants vying for them, meanwhile academia in general seems to be in a crisis due to being too expensive / not practical, funding cuts, etc.

I like to ramble about music history and people often tell me I would be an awesome music history teacher. I would be interested in doing that but I feel like academia would never be interested in hiring me for such. I have no degree (not even a bachelor), & nothing on paper that would qualify me.
