Yes, there is a happy ending! This isn't a direct AU of the movie—there are some scenes that are homages and a lot of references, but the underlying plot is different and their relationship arc is also different.

Agree so hard with all of this. And also one of the best parts of their story is that the reverse is also true. Henry helped Alex learn that his worth isn’t just tied to his accomplishments, that helping people doesn’t have to mean giving up all of yourself.
