Divisive comments are protected free speech on all sides. We can ignore them (don't feed the trolls) but we can't pretend this censorship from the Trump administration is anything other than an authoritarian power grab.

I disagreed with #CharlieKirk on just about everything. I agree that he fed the fires of hate and violence. However, EVERYONE has the first amendment right to say what he believes. Violence is not acceptable anywhere, except in war. So far, this is not a war. Please don’t turn it into one.

Before knowing all the facts, voices on the right are now exploiting the tragic death of Charlie Kirk & calling for all-out war on the left. This is sad, but not surprising, at a time when we should all be denouncing political violence. They were not so upset when Minn. Democrats were assassinated.

Charlie Kirk was a fascist, nazi piece of shit. But I would never wish an assassin's bullet for him. I'm genuinely horrified by this act of violence.

I'm also sickened by the hypocrisy and outrage we're already seeing from the ammosexual MAGA right, and how Trump will exploit this murder.

Acts of political violence aren’t acceptable. Non-political school shootings aren’t acceptable. Sacking the legislature isn’t acceptable. Military occupation of peaceful American cities isn’t acceptable. Abductions conducted in courthouse hallways by masked agents of the state aren’t acceptable.

A different way of practicing politics is possible - where we vigorously fight for what’s right while inviting people into our coalition, rather than pushing them away.

Wherever you land on the issues, I think the vast majority of us are strongly against the vile murders of October 7 and also strongly against an entirely avoidable mass starvation of a vulnerable people.

Let’s end the false equivalences. This has to stop now.

If we can't think for ourselves, if we're unwilling to question authority, then we're just putty in the hands of those in power.
