I do think the most insane part of the age gating laws is they absolutely won't fix anything whereas if you passed a law absolutely assigning liability in deaths to the AI companies with a nice fat minimum settlement all these problems would get fixed lickety-split.

Cartoon scene of a restaurant. Several tables, respectively labeled "Healthcare," " Education," " Sciences," "Arts," have only one customer each, with only empty plates. One table labeled "War" is lavishly served, being attended by 3 waiters carrying big, full dishes.
This is so perfectly fitting, had to share.

Africa isn't waiting to be included in the AI conversation. It's leading it. π
This week, ODET joined partners in Cairo for "An Algorithmic Awakening," a capacity-building workshop on #AIGovernance, peace & security across the continent. Built with Africa. Not just for it.

ICO writes to Meta over 'concerning' AI smart glasses report
Videos, including of glasses-wearers using the toilet or having sex, are sometimes reviewed by a Kenya-based subcontractor.
Last year when I was checking into a hotel, the desk person was wearing Meta glasses. I kindly asked them to take them off. They were annoyed. I said, βI do not consent to you looking at my credit card and ID with Meta glasses on.β My instincts were correct: www.bbc.com/news/article...

Donβt Call It βIntelligenceβ
Humans are question machines. AI is an answer machine.
βMost of what a writer experiences is failure. Developing a voice takes years. The point is not to make it out of the woods quickly or unscathed. Getting lost is not the rough part. Itβs the whole thing.β

Rethinking Sovereign AI as Strategy
Swarnim Shrivastava says the pursuit of AI sovereignty poses a tough question for nations: how much control is economically and institutionally feasible?
βSovereign AI is ultimately about governance capacity,β writes Swarnim Shrivastava. Most nations cannot afford to build their own AI stack, turning instead to open source models as a way to prioritize integration and governance over scale.

Lawsuit? The most appropriate reaction to a machine like this is HYSTERIA. Take this sh*t seriously! It's a killing + terrorism making automaton.
Send the G-Men to where it lives and knock over the servers! Visit the boss's homes/offices/yachts/islands and force them to make it stop.
TURN IT OFF!

we need to make it illegal for chatbots to call themselves "i," "me," and otherwise pretend to be people
it's not innate to llms -- it's part of the interface layer between the user and the statistical model
and it can be gotten rid of
