Oxytocin and vasotocin are produced in the supraoptic and paraventricular nuclei within three hypothalamic subunits. The neuropeptides appear to contribute to co-occurring metabolic and psychiatric traits. The genetic pathways between these hypothalamic volumes and traits remain unknown.
