Traveller tonight! Team Xerxes completed it 3-jump journey to the nearest Scout Base to pick up their new detached scout ship.

They found it inhabited, by its dissolute and addled former captain, living out in the boneyard. Guns were waved, but there was Fungus Bacon, so everybody was chill.

Interested in how much people get to run or play #TTRPG

On average its online 3 nights a week. Running 3 campaigns, playing 1. Some ad-hoc.

Feels like a lot. I appreciate some play less, but I'm at a stage in life I can afford to indulge hobbies.

How about you? Please repost if you can.

Currently running Traveller once weekly. This is two groups, alternating weeks, in different subsectors of a custom setting.

So will he be making it just another D&D clone, instead?

Legit question. Haven't seen his earlier work.

I'm perfectly happy to continue right along with Traveller Traveller.

I will no doubt buy this, for the collection. I will peruse it out of creative interest. Be shocked if it left the shelf twice.

In the 80s as a young RPG player, I walked away from D&D as fast as my hairy hobbit feet could carry me. Into Traveller, Champions, RuneQuest (3rd!), Rolemaster, and more.

Don't get me wrong. I have immense fondness for D&D. I even play it a couple times a decade.

Listening to Led Zeppelin's debut album for the first time in many years, I am reminded of just how much they owe Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf.

I would probably add a ton of tables, though.

Have you seen how Shadowdark is written, structured, and laid out? Super-tight writing, no twisty definitions. Classic Traveller is already super light and lean. I doubt I'd change much mechanically. But that presentation would be amazing.

The mechanics are already tight enough. Succint rules presentation with useful evocative examples and mini-tables. I'd make adjustments for tone, but basically leave everything else as-is.

And also Fancy.

I may well use that in-universe! Tempted to spell it Milller.

People have assumed I'm somewhere in Foreven sector or something, so I put that in. It is in no sense important.

I would like to see the Classic Traveller rules set presented like Shadowdark.

In tonight's case, we assumed a bungled Admin check meant the government issued fuel vouchers weren't accepted and he spent two daus getting red tape runaround.

I've also taken to using the term XP Weeks. It makes sense in Traveller, where learning or improving a new skill takes some number of weeks of study.

BUT, if you write up the episode and post it in Discord for all to enjoy, I'll give you that half XP Week back. And maybe even a little bonus.

New Traveller House Rule: If you miss a session, it's cool. But we will assume your character has been assigned to some important but pedestrian task, while the rest of the Team heads out directly. You will fumble whatever roll is required, resulting in the lost time, and a lost half XP.

Also this is all online. Man, I remember back in the day, when we typically had 8-11 every Saturday night, roughly 7PM to possibly 5AM, playing Rolemaster.

I ain't got that kinda stamina anymore.

Sweet! I'm not handling 10 at once. I split them into two groups of five and we alternate Fridays. Teams Xerxes and Agamemnon, operating in on opposite ends of a 3-subsector span of MTU space.

Traveller tonight! Tram Agamemnon landed on Vaccaro, an agricultural world under a corporate monopoly on its interstellar trade with a local government incapable of getting anything done aside from maintaining the status quo.

Solid session, tho we did have a dropout. The slot is already filled!

It's very pretty and the components are top-notch. And it's more gearheady than I expected, given the Year Zero engine. I understand that they've made some changes to the original Poland setting (which the old guard have generally not liked), but also provided a new one (Sweden).
