I may be wrong (cd be thinking of Evans-Pritchard), but I don’t think Warner was a Leaver during the campaign. I think he embraced Brexit once he saw it as inevitable & thought it was best to get behind it. Brexiters will be able to discard him as someone who was never a true believer

On the TV debates between the two rounds (which have a huge audience & influence), he was very courteous but extremely firm and on the offensive denouncing her links to Russia and Putin (both in 2017, when it surprised many, and in 2022, after she did a weak u turn after the invasion of Ukraine)

One of the problems (not the only one!) is how hard it will be to decouple on security matters without it becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy, or worse, without it being perceived as a hostile move by a Trump administration
