Earth Sciences students at #univienna have artificially produced an iron sulphate compound in the laboratory and examined its spectral signal. 🔬
The surprise that followed: this signal matches a spectral signal from #Mars that #NASA has not yet been able to assign to any known #mineral.

The first Planet Earth Day was organized by @univie.ac.at in cooperation with the Outreach and the Educational Committee @egu.eu and the children's office of the University of Vienna - many thanks to all the contributors and the organizational team!

At 24 other stations, they rolled seed balls, created earthquakes, looked at microfossils under a microscope or explored Vienna's underground using VR glasses: The children and their parents were incredibly enthusiastic and eager to explore. 🤩 More insights can be found here 👉 lnkd.in/dCriRt2S
