Today, I had the privilege of speaking with students from @cmu.edu on my journey as a physician-legislator and discuss with them the importance of being scientists and health professionals who lead both in the lab or clinic and the outside world.

Veena, my staff, and I greatly enjoyed hosting our community at my annual Diwali celebration at the Baierl Family YMCA in Franklin Park. Thank you to all for celebrating the Festival of Lights and your generosity in bringing dry food items for North Hills Community Outreach’s food pantry.

In PA we depend on pharmacies to receive vaccines. Now the CDC and Secretary Kennedy are threatening that access. I am proud to introduce today along with @reptarikkhan.bsky.social, Rep. Kosierowski, and @repomara.com HB 1881 that would protect access to vaccines from pharmacists in PA.

Great to join @deluzio.house.gov for a clean energy tour at CCAC North in McCandless. There is great opportunity environmentally and economically in the energy transition, including solar energy and jobs with the electrification of vehicles.

I joined @padempolicy.bsky.social to hear testimony from unions, energy companies, utilities, and agriculture on the construction of data centers in PA. This is an important economic opportunity, but we need to make sure that it is done carefully to avoid increased energy costs for consumers.

Wonderful today to visit the DePaul School for Hearing and Speech and learn about their homegrown apprenticeship program to train teachers for the deaf. Thank you for all DePaul and their staff do to teach those with hearing and speech impairments and this very innovative program.

Today l joined PennEnvironment, PGH Public Schools, the PA Solar Center, and @repsteele.com to discuss a new report showing the potential for savings by installing solar at our schools. The Solar for Schools program is an important vehicle for moving this forward in our community as it has across PA

The US Population Could Shrink in 2025, For the First Time Ever It's a story with massive economic and political significance. But it's receiving strangely little attention.

As an immigrant and naturalized citizen, I've always taken pride in my family’s story and how we are living the American Dream. What we don’t often discuss is how dependent our region and nation are on immigration. For the first time in US history, we are on track to see a decrease in population.

Pittsburgh and our region are defined by the Three Rivers. Today, I joined @repemilykinkead.com‬, Rep. Goughnour, and the @padempolicy.bsky.social to discuss waterfront development and how best we can leverage tax credits and state policies to get the most value out of our rivers across PA.

Most Trump tariffs ruled illegal in blow to White House trade policy The appeals court stayed its ruling until Oct. 14, giving the Trump administration time to ask the Supreme Court to hear the case.

This is great news. Even with the prospect of an appeal to the Supreme Court, I am hopeful we will see the end to President Trump trying to unconstitutionally impose tariffs that are a regressive tax, creating business uncertainty, and driving inflation.

HHS Secretary Kennedy is endangering our health.

Deb Houry, a CDC leader who resigned, is a fellow ER Doc & outstanding public health leader. Her exit is a warning of what’s next - lies to restrict vaccine access.

States must step up, starting with my bill to protect vaccine access in PA.

These kids were literally praying. Enough with “thoughts and prayers.” We can keep firearms out of the hands of those with a propensity for violence. Time to act.
