i think about kaito lying about his illness a lot. its a key tenet for the whole kaito is a liar thing. he doesnt tell anyone for ages, he would have taken it to his grave if he could. kokichi lies and plays the villain so he can fix everything by himself. they both lie to prevent anyone helpin them

kaito trusts people implicitly. he believes with all his heart in a person's good intentions and that trust continues to kokichi. he blocks the arrow from hitting kokichi even after everything. he trusts kokichi will stop the press before it kills him. and he acts his goddamn heart out after it all

and he fucking does a great job. of course the person who could play the most convincing kokichi is kaito, his reflection, his rival. he trusted kaito to kill him. he trusted him with his final wishes and plan to ruin the game. and kaito trusts him in turn, which isnt surprising for kaito but still
