Happy Halloween!

With everything going on in the world right now, I genuinely and honestly don't know what to say or share or think on social media anymore.

Is it Monday again already?

Liz and I are enjoying some serious nostalgia tonight as we watch the original, despecialized editions of the original Star Wars trilogy. The fact that Projects 4K77, 4K80, and 4K83 exist is a testament to fan efforts to preserve the movies as originally released in theaters, imperfections and all.

Along with my love of orchestral film music, I have many beloved books that I will return to from time to time that recenter me and act as comfort food for my soul, books such as Armada, Dune, The Lord of the Rings, The Martian, Project Hail Mary, Ready Player One, The Silmarillion, and World War Z.

Self-hatred and self-loathing are the thieves of joy and happiness in life.

I'm feeling very discouraged this morning; but, like so much anxiety, this too shall pass.

Today is a solemn and somber day of remembrance for both those lives lost on September 11, 2001 and those whose lives were forever changed by the tragedy.

I didn’t always understand my anxiety and depression; and I worried I wouldn’t make it through the reunion yesterday because of all the Sturm und Drang I felt way back in high school. Instead, I was surrounded by so much love and support, like coming home after being away and lost for so many years.

Today’s HSPVA Class of 1995 30th Reunion Showcase was an absolute blast; and I’m eternally grateful for everyone encouraging me to step outside of my comfort zone, breaking out in song with a rendition of “Bein’ Green” by Joe Raposo. Even after all these years, I’m still just a big kid at heart.

The challenges and obstacles we face in life strengthen us like steel tempered by a fire.

I know I haven't been all that chatty as of late, but I'm still here trying to fight the good fight.

I wish I had some kind words of wisdom or sympathy or comfort to offer, but I am beyond stunned and speechless by everything happening right now.

Just when I was starting to feel genuine hope that life was finally starting to get just a little bit easier, our country decides to take the world to absolute hell in a handbasket. My recent feelings of existential dread have now truly been made manifest.
