Had to look out old photos for nephewβs birthday and came across lots from South America. Looking at the quality of most of them either i have got better or the equipment has, maybe both!

20.02.2026 11:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A week before this I had climbed to the top of a snow capped, recently active volcano (Villarica) in southern Chile but Rapa Nui was an even more extraordinary experience. Long long way to go but worthwhile.
19.02.2026 22:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ha! Not sure why I was wearing a Barcelona top... A unique destination and yes amazing, a tiny island thousands of miles out in the Pacific littered with these amazing statues. Nowhere quite like it.
19.02.2026 22:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Something different, 25 years ago i visited Rapa Nut (Easter island). There are circa 1,000 statues (moai) on the island in various stages of completion with about 200 perched on their final platforms (ahu). For scale my daysac is included on a Pukao (hat) & I stand by a buried moai at Rano Raraku.
19.02.2026 19:33 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0Spring definitely in the air yesterday at Figgate park, Edinburgh (at least for the resident swan pair!). The female does not get a good deal here, being submerged for most of the mating... @rspbscotland.bsky.social @rspb.bsky.social #Birds #swan #Edinburgh #urban #wildlife #spring
18.02.2026 20:36 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Pleasantly surprised to have a new fox visitor after a sparse few months when all of the 4 regular foxes disappeared. He (?) looks in decent condition but didnβt turn his nose up at a few dog treats. #Edinburgh #fox #wildlife

30.01.2026 20:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Cute or scary? Wee ratty coming up through a hole in the decking at Figgate park. Some kids/folk had scattered crisps or cereal everywhere so can't blame it (or it's 3 friends) for scavenging. #Edinburgh #rat #wildlife
30.01.2026 19:20 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1Female kingfisher on the Water of Leith in Edinburgh. She had just caught a fish then had a quick bath and a preen hence the tail spread out to dry. Wee beauty. @rspb.bsky.social @rspbscotland.bsky.social @wolct.bsky.social #Edinburgh #river #wildlife #Birds
30.01.2026 19:17 β π 36 π 4 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks David, got about a hundred shots to go through but this one looked one of the better ones!

29.01.2026 20:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks Ross, always great to find a cooperative kingfisher!
29.01.2026 20:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I had several close encounters yesterday with a brave wee female kingfisher on the Water of Leith. She flew over to my side of the river & landed circa 10 feet away. Unperturbed by passersby (except some off the leash dogs) she proceeded to catch several fish. @wolct.bsky.social #Birds #Edinburgh
29.01.2026 18:42 β π 49 π 12 π¬ 5 π 0A male bullfinch flashing his wares in Figgate park, Edinburgh yesterday. Very striking plumage, especially against a clear, blue sky. @rspb.bsky.social @rspbscotland.bsky.social #Birds #Edinburgh #wildlife #parklife

28.01.2026 21:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0No otter or kingfisher in Figgate park today but plenty brown rats (rattus norvegicus)! Locals not happy but probably would be even less happy if they knew rats can breed at 3 months old & have 5 litters a year, each of up to 12 young! @scotwildlife.bsky.social #Edinburgh #wildlife
24.01.2026 19:04 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Kestrel glowing in late afternoon sunlight yesterday. Becoming a regular attraction in my local park. @rspb.bsky.social @rspbscotland.bsky.social #Edinburgh #Birds #raptor #wildlife #urban

17.01.2026 12:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well, got to be better than the alternative you had eg a tour of Portobello charity shops followed by shopping at Aldi!
16.01.2026 21:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks Ross, hopefully see you about Figgate or Musselburgh.
16.01.2026 21:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A welcome migrant spotted in Figgate park, a colourful redwing (ok it's not a waxwing but still striking!). Love the tongue sticking out to pull in the berry! 16.01.2026 20:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Kestrel from earlier today in Figgate park. It didn't pose for long but luckily it came back to the same perch a couple of times. Another clip from the River Kelvin in Glasgow. This was an epic struggle between Kingfisher and what i think is an eel elver. Lasted several minutes, we think he won but he flew off to the other side of the river to finish the job. Starts full speed and then goes slow-mo, no sound. #birds
