It leads to us never being able to talk about enjoying something without immediately being expected to give it a ranking.

Detour I put a gaping hole where a home should be, a silent street where no one visits me. But every stranger passing through there, becomes a resident I must repair. If I'm the one who makes the connection break, then I control the devastating ache. And yes, they see the statue, not the stone. A pretty surface they can have on loan. They want the function, not the faulty core. They crowd the entrance, but won't bar the door. So l am both the party and the ghost. The thing they want to notice, love, and toast. This is the trap, the self-made jail: The need that makes me destined to fail. The loneliness makes me come on strong, ensuring any visit won't last too long. A perfect, devastating, curse, that makes everything immeasurably worse.
