Happy anniversary and really enjoying that reference!

The season 20 finale of Taskmaster capped off an excellent series. Really surprised to see a 3-way tie in points at the end but that just added to the fun.

Have to admit I have developed a bit of a crush on Ania Magliano over the course the season. She makes a very fetching pirate.

El Pony Pisador perform live at the Selby Town Hall

Saw @elponypisador.bsky.social in Selby earlier this week. Haven't seen them play live since they opened for @thelongestjohns.bsky.social in 2022.

They were utterly superb. Splendid musicianship, delightfully daft in places and some lovely harmonies. Bought 2 more of their albums that night.

I really need to find that damn monkey paw which keeps technically giving me something I want/wanted but does so in a way that does me absolutely no good whatsoever. How many fingers does this thing have?

The United Republic of Great Britain and Northern Ireland sounds better every day.

All of the problems we are currently facing can be traced back to unfettered capitalism.

Ironically, its most vocal supporters are the ones who want to "go back" to when things were better. Not knowing or not caring this means socialism.

I'm not an American. I get that. But I have studied the United States for years and have always wanted to relocate there permanently (I realise this is extremely unlikely).

Have always rather romanticized the US because of what it COULD be. So to see it unravel like this would be heartbreaking.

The 22nd Amendment is inescapably clear:

"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice".

Says nothing about them being consecutive or any other wiggle room. Trump running for a third time CANNOT (legally) happen. It even being floated as a possibility is terrifying.

Oh absolutely. Not sure I could formulate full sentences to Harley's face, never mind rude ones!

One little detail I really liked about this is the way Mercedes spent almost the entire segment talking to Puppet Mone while calling her Harley. The disconnect of her knowing who is behind the puppet but still addressing/looking at the puppet was delightfully absurd. Props to Mercedes for that.

Considering every clip I've seen of this show has her screeching that Zack "can't say" something, what are the odds she describes herself as an advocate of free speech?

Damn, I've missed The Traitors. A genuinely impressive cast for a celebrity version of a show like this, too.

Am a big fan of Brian K Vaughan's writing so was always going to pick up his latest project: SPECTATORS with art by Niko Henrichon.

Wow. Not remotely safe for work or kids, this futuristic fantasy explores questions of sexuality and violence in a fascinating way with beautiful art throughout.

I popped for this exchange. A low-key highlight for me.

I also quite liked Callis asking Danielson if he'd ever wrestled a guy like Hechicero and Bryan's response: "... I wrestled Hechicero".

There's no way @mehdirhasan.bsky.social will remember me from my very brief internship at New Statesman but clips like this make me proud to make the (admittedly rather flimsy but still technically accurate) claim that I once worked with him.

He's dropping some serious facts here. Brilliant.

Also, if he were a second-grader, his wouldn't be the only name to learn.

I'm not celebrating a man's death. But don't ask me to mourn for someone who spent their career demonizing and dehumanizing vulnerable people and communities. It's possible to say murder is wrong while also admitting the victim in this case was monumentally shitty human being.

Was already jealous of anyone who has made it to Glasgow for Dynamite, but all the photos (like this one) I'm seeing of the crowd has made it so much more intense!

Damn, I hope everyone there has an absolute blast and makes a load of noise.
