In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, the RTA recognizes and honors the history, culture, and contributions of native and Indigenous people throughout our region.

The numbers reflect what riders have been telling us for years. In places where the Service Boards have increased frequency and reliability, ridership is up. With new investment in transit operations, improvements across our system will be transformational.

Through September, Chicagoland riders have taken more than 280 million fixed-route trips this year. September 2025 was the second highest ridership month since the pandemic! 🚉👏

On October 31, the Illinois General Assembly passed SB 2111, a historic transit funding and reform bill providing $1.2 billion in new annual operating funding for CTA, Metra, and Pace, ensuring no fare hikes or service cuts in 2026 and supporting improvements to service, reliability, and safety.
