When I lived in Chicago and went to the Art Institute, I always went to look at this room. It's an Art Noveau masterpiece, and Louis Sullivan is one of the main reasons Chicago has such great architecture. Demolishing this would be like NYC tearing down the Empire State building.

Forgot to add this part--the first fanwork I shared was a Sports Night story in 2000, on the slashsn Yahoo groups mailing list.

Online, the first fic I think I read was in Buffy fandom, on the UCSL (found completely by accident) @1998. But it also might have been in X-files? 🤷‍♀️

However, the first fanfic I actually read was the fanfic that was published, late 70s into the 80s, as Trek novels. On the downlow, so to speak.
