kaveh gingerly took the ring from the box and wore it on his left ring finger. "it's beautiful, haitham. i cannot, i just..."

"shh," haitham pressed a kiss against kaveh's temple. "we have the rest of our lives now..."

kaveh jumped at haitham, wrapping his arms around his neck. "yes, yes, yes! of course i will. i am sorry i got scared. i am sorry i ruined your plans. how do i make up for it, habibi?"

when kaveh said nothing, his eyes captivated by the ring, haitham took his hand.

so, for the next hour, kaveh was subjected to the cheesiest attempts at a proposal.

"kaveh. did someone say anything to you that led you to think this way?"

"aren't we meeting up tonight so you can break up with me? i know im not the best partner. im too hard on myself and i refuse help. i feel guilty and i feel like a charity case when you dote on me.

hell, sometimes my brain says you hate me and the affection is fake! im broken."

"kaveh. we don't have to if you don't want to. we can still say the same. just as we are now."

"but would you? when you don't even love me anymore?"

haitham blinked. the inner workings of his brain stopped.

"what do you mean I don't love you anymore? where did you even..."

but, well, i guess it's kaveh's decision to make at the end of the day.

haitham knew kaveh's sensitive with his parents' past. perhaps it still brings him some anxiety?

but haitham thought kaveh wanted his own after attending so many weddings and crying the whole time.
