Sometimes I think this helicopter, which I wish we could splatter with a paintball gun, is a perfect metaphor for this administration and its federal occupation: persistent but aimless. Like a summer house fly that won’t go away.

Daniel Suitor is live-skeeting or ICE-skating, whatever we call this coverage of Federal Judge Jeffrey Brian’s contempt of court hearing, and we’re all gonna wanna follow.

NEW: José Antonio Zayas Cabán invites me into his home to talk about the return of classic Open Streets events, hosted by his org, Our Streets. Plus he explains how community reaction to a violent occupation shows how "democratized economies" are more resilient.

Sadly not surprising, though. For decades I’ve seen analyses of who gives and who doesn’t, and the wealthy are always the least giving, both by percentage who give and amounts given. Upper middle class next-lowest. Vulnerable people are the ones who know much of a difference giving makes.

so much incredible fundraising and mutual aid work is being done right now like this but it's like southwest minneapolis as a community is silent. the wealthiest area of this city should be a leader, but instead, we hear how kenwood school is struggling to pay rent for families on march 1

Totally agree.

Buttons or dials I’ll learn by memory or feel. I don’t have to look at them.

I argue with people about this.

Them: “Look at all the cool controls!”

Me: “Think how great it’ll be when you’re in rush hour and you’re roasting, or the song sounds lousy, and you can’t pull over.”

In Plunging Into a Mideast Conflict, Trump Gambles His Presidency

“In just over a year since taking office, Mr. Trump has authorized military action in seven nations, even after he repeatedly promised American voters that he would end, not start, wars.”

I did not expect a 1 a.m. update from Liam but here we are.

I really fucking hate it when ICE is out and about at all hours (or any hours).

That’s why the bouncers won’t let you in the door.

SEND AN EMAIL TO YOUR COUNCIL MEMBERS. YOUR NEIGHBORS STILL NEED YOUR SUPPORT AND THIS MATTERS AS MUCH AS HORNS AND WHISTLES AND ALL THE GOOD SIGNS.

I think part of that is also a reflection of “the office.” When I walk around with a Liverpool or a Dortmund shirt on, lots of people stop to tell me which team in that league they support. But most of those people are laborers or service workers and don’t work in an office.

Nah, I was just nit-picking your point because it’s Monday morning.

Pretty sure the London police didn’t think that day was anything like a concert.

If I touch my fingers over my heart, customers at my store start to talk.

I should get a button like that for when I’m not at work.

There was also that band called The Group, or that group called The Band, whichever.

Well, there was that later concert from the rooftop of their Savile Row offices. So how many miles apart were they *now*, Mr. Smarty? (jk) 🙃

For my children, less-structured time outside was a good thing, but we were lucky that at the time one of us could get them to events, camps, etc. What I’d rather is paid childcare and community ed and such so that it’s not just for those who can afford to live that way.

What Taylor says.

Witt’s masked thugs make it seem like the ICE occupation is still in full swing.

Here’s what our local gov’t is doing instead of helping people stay housed. (Whipple is where abducted people are being detained.)

This is what it looks like when fascists successfully take over an institution.

This is the aesthetic of American fascism and state capture all in one.

It comes down to this. You can certainly take care of your own and keep your head down to keep only them safe (btw an academy kid was taken from Madison, so it didn't protect them). But you cannot then claim unity when you did nothing to support your community. You made a choice.

Why Minnesota United didn’t say more about local ICE raids Amid the federal immigration raids in Minnesota to start this year, Minnesota United remained quiet on the subject. Loons supporters, which might be the most-progressive fanbase in Minnesota, took …

Just my 1 appearance on MSNOW raised $200k for the Hamline Midway Supply Hub. Imagine if MNUFC had used their platform to raise up orgs like that. They abandoned their community.
