I wonder if we'll ever recover from the damage the Trump administration is doing to our country. 18F, for example, did only good things, in my opinion. Now, it's all lost.

I think the situation is different this time because the populist rage is directed against these elites. Who will restore the rule of law? Must it come from the MAGA movement, post Trump's presidency? Or do we need a populist rage against MAGA first, and then rethink who we are as a nation?

What I’m now curious about is how, historically, the populist rage ended up handing back the “keys” it had stolen from the British to the very elites who wrote the Constitution. Could we apply a similar process in the future, or are the situations too different?

It seems the election of Biden gave us the illusion that the legalism of 1789 hadn’t retreated, that the rebellious spirit of 1776/2016 was just a brief, isolated moment in our history. But now that we know that’s not the case, I doubt we can simply return, in 2028, to how things were before
