Puritanism has no place in politics for normal grown ups.
Elect the Democratic candidate and in every single instance that will be better than any Republican alternative.

I feel like we typically see these sorts of completely outraged opinions from federal judges a couple times a year across the whole country, maybe a little more often in last few years. Now, in cases stemming from Trump's immigration crackdown, judges are ringing the alarm bell several times a week.

Because he’s really fucking stupid.
That’s it. That’s the reason.
This is why red states have higher voter apathy. Always shenanigans.
I feel bad for these folks just trying to exercise their constitutional right to vote and having to deal with this mess.

I vote for the political party that enacted all those laws.
And continues to defend them from the Republicans’ efforts to either end them or reduce them dramatically.
So, yeah, you’re welcome.
How does “I would prefer the Democrats support trans rights based on merit…” get bastardized into “why do trans fold need to demonstrate merit”?
The point was that Democrats should support trans rights because it is meritorious to do so, even if it is unpopular.
“Agree with me or you’re talking down to me!”

Did I?
“I would prefer the Democrats support trans rights based on merit rather than on popularity but if you need any guidance on how the American public views support for trans rights, demonizing trans was a key component of Benedict Trump’s election strategy.”
I think what’s really funny is that you think disagreeing with a woman equates to talking down to them.
Speaks volumes about you.
John McCain was an elected Republican senator for decades and a veteran who spent years in captivity as a result of his service.
The Republican cult turned on him because a draft dodging idiotic bigot told them to.
You may have also noticed that the more awful a Republican candidate is vis a vis racism/bigotry/misogyny, the better they perform within the Republican cult.
McCain, for example, probably does better in 2008 if he agrees with the bigot who called Obama an Arab. Instead, he corrected her.
I didn’t say he was smart to do it.
Just that it’s effective.
You may have noticed that the Republican cult wins elections via appeals to racism, bigotry, misogyny.
They don’t run on policies, just lies and the aforementioned racism/bigotry/misogyny.
No need.

Depends on the specific topic but one candidate made it a central theme of his campaign (being opposed to them in general and specifically with regard to sports) while the other candidate did not make trans rights a central theme of her campaign.
Right?
