One of the most hilariously insulting things an we can do as Americans is find people not guilty of crimes they technically committed against law enforcement or people in power to show an utter lack of respect for their ridiculous grievances. ✊🏼

When I was a public defender I actually had a HOTLY contested assault case that happened in a Taco Bell and at the end of the first day of testimony the judge got off the bench and told us she was going to Taco Bell for dinner.

A little life update

3 years ago I completely restarted my life as a plaintiff’s attorney after working at an incredibly toxic office that impacted me in ways I still regret today.

On Friday I got my last paycheck signed by someone else.

From here out my name is on the bank account. Scary good

This is Kevin. There is nothing I adore more than a dog with a people name.

Oh we are aware. Many a rescue dog has meandered through this house.

I do not want fancy purses. But I will absolutely sign up to foster an 11 month old malinois sitting in a local animal shelter as a stray knowing with 90% certainty this will mean my husband and I will be adopting him and knowing this means we have to leave at 8AM on a time change Sunday to get him.

I just stood in a changing room at the gym and listened to a woman on the phone making some sort of purchase give out her name, address, credit card number and security code. In public. Out loud. Where anyone could write it down.

Anyway who’s in the mood to go shopping?

Friday motions docket:
Halloween.
Judge was a little loose today.
A pro se woman appeared to get her final divorce decree signed.
A little back and forth ensued re: whether her paperwork was all in order.
Judge ended up signing it.
“You’re divorced!”

My law school just posted an IG story of Sugarfoot the therapy pony who came to visit students in the law library today.

Meanwhile my graduating class had Friday flag football leagues and the student govt bought us kegs and we all got drunk together.

We are not the same.

(I told him no, for the record. He was disappointed.)

Today in lawyering:

I met with an incapacitated man in need of services.

He scoots around in a no motor wheelchair.

He was in the street when I pulled up.

After our meeting he asked “if I hold on to the back of your car will you pull me down to the end of the street?”

Never a dull moment.

In VA, wrongful death settlements are required to be approved by a court. If a GAL is needed, I am that GAL.

When I am appointed, I find that many plaintiff’s attorneys just stop doing their jobs.

I charge a flat fee. You are getting 1/3 (or more) of the settlement.

My husband called me to tell me how uncomfortable wearing a suit is.

I was going back through photos to put together an album for a birthday event and realized how many pictures I have of my husband asleep with his mouth open so he better act right today.

Every single one of my most difficult cases is frustrating right now because of the entitled adult children of very wealthy people who did not work for or earn the wealth and respect that they demand and that has a very 2025 vibe to it.
