End of thread! This was purely analytical, not a conclusive summary of his name and even his parents' wishes. I just tried connecting dots while having enjoying the fun facts.

"Vyn" is also quite a unique nickname that he gave himself. it's not a well-known variant as far as I know. But my favorite interpretation of it should originate from the French word "Vyntener" which has now become the modern day word for "Vintner" or a "Wine Maker".

Although he gave up the name and wishes his parents had for him, he still kept a trace of that first name "Vilhelm": A Scandinavian conversion of "William"/"Wilhelm", in Swedish it means "devout protector"

And it's even more disheartening to think of how he had given up that very name that carried his parents wishes. He is neither a strong ruler, as much as he is not a bright noble. He refuses to become someone who carries the wishes of others who had failed to realize their own.

Opting to follow her own path, and severing her relations with Vilhelm--turned Vyn, she can be seen as gloomy and irreverent.
It's very interesting to see how plainly the couple laid their hopes of Vyn's future into his name.

Meanwhile the name "'Albert" mostly originates from Germany, the most common definition for the name is a "Bright Noble". Reserving the meaning of "Noble" to be 'of royalty or aristocracy' in this case, we can posit that Reina had failed or chose not to become a 'Bright Noble'

If we were to define Eirik & Reina (Vyn's parents), we can flatten them as a weak-willed man and a cold, unyielding woman.
'Richard' is of Frankish descent meaning "strong in rule", unlike Eirik, who was unable to defend his relationship with Reina despite his political power

While researching for this comic, I found that Vyn's full name had influences mainly from Northern Europe, and that his name is definitive of his parents' wishes for him: that is, to become more than they ever were. (cont.)
