One of my most anticipated reads for 2025:
Ghengis Khan and The Making of the Modern World by Jack Weatherford.
Weatherford highlights how Khan was both a ruthless, but also a visionary.
Have you read this one? What were your thoughts?

Viking History is one of my favorite historical periods.
The Wolf Age by Tore Skeie is a book I think anyone who loves Viking/Nordic history will love.
What Viking history books would you recommend?

One of my top reads of 2024, and one Iβd highly recommend you check out!
Midnight in Chernobyl by Adam Higginbotham

One of my most anticipated reads in 2025!
The Faithful Executioner by Joel F. Harrington

Todayβs Inauguration will be designed to fuel anger, resentment, and fuel rage among those who are either directly impacted or opposed to particular rhetoric or policies of Trumpβs.
Do not fuel the fire, be vigilant in how and what you consume, and choose to fight back with actual change.
TikTok is back up after the ban, but it is 100% not the same.
Content/creators I followed, mainly for history and history books, are all but gone from search and my FYP.
I canβt say whatβs happened to the algorithm, but thereβs a lot of empty hallways in the building if you know what I meanβ¦
CR:
The Poppy War
The Hundred Yearsβ War on Palestine
The Shadow of The Gods
Agreed wholeheartedly, and welcome!

π Reading is political
π§ Audiobooks count as reading
π Reading is not a competition
π€ Reading critically & reading for fun are not mutually exclusive
π If you support problematic authors, you deserve to be called out on it
π« Toxic positivity can eff off
History and history book lovers, where you at?!

I might have to add that to the tbr.

Any solid recs for books on the Ottoman Empire?
Looking to add some reads from that period to my list this year.
Iβve started posting book content on IG.
Hereβs my most recent post discussing some of the books Iβm prioritizing in 2025.
I hope youβll check it out!

The books Iβm currently reading:
The Poppy War started off pretty slow, but took off about 50 pages in, and Iβve been glued to it ever since.
Hundred Yearsβ War is quite dense out of the gates, but extremely informative.
Not too far into Shadow yet.
What are you reading in Jan?

Just finished up with βHow The Word Is Passedβ by @clintsmithiii.bsky.social as my first read in my 25 in 2025 challenge.
A no-doubt βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ read - highly recommend adding it to your tbr.
Iβm now on to The Hundred Yearsβ War on Palestine by Rashid Khalid.
What are you currently reading?

It will never be acceptable to allow January 6th to be forgotten, rewritten, misinterpreted, or accepted as normal.
A day of destruction and desecration to the very freedoms and liberties our country stands on were threatened.
Tolerance and apathy are the last virtues of a dying society.

#BookSky Christmas Day check-in!
Iβve added what most consider βmust readsβ that Iβve been putting off in favor of other reads to my collection.
Already started on βHow The Word Is Passedβ by Clint Smith, and am loving it. Will likely restart Valiant Ambition.
Have you read any of these titles?
Same energy.
20.12.2024 12:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's what you get when corporations would rather profit
off our pain than improve the country. They use our suffering as a way to get seize control, all while oppressing through constant dependency so that their wealth can continue to grow.

Lindsey M Burke, of The Heritage Foundation, recently co-wrote an article about declining birth rates in the US.
Burke, who holds a Masters AND PhD, and recently became a mother in 2022, at 39, advocates for government incentives for continuing education to help with birth rates.
Hypocrisy reigns
Demon of Unrest will be an early 2025 read for me!
Happy to see it on so many peopleβs top reads.
