It's something i've done for years . Some species are easier than others but basically it's down to knowing the particular species requirements.
There should be more as the year progresses.

Cheers Chris. This species is a relatively easy one to rear.

Pleased to report another rearing result. Took a wee bit longer than the previous one due to the caterpillar being a lot smaller.

White-lipped Snail 'Cepaea hortensis'
Monday 2nd March
Definitely my favourite time of year with the start of fresh emergences on an almost daily basis. These 2 #inverts were both found at Lambhill Stables.

😂 I'm sure the local rodent population can sustain a family of Kestrels without no great loss.

Nice & dry, i placed it inside the flower of a Daffodil out of harms way.
Sunday 1st March
My early morning walk drew a blank no thanks to the rain. I had to jump into Tesco on the way home and i'm glad i did as i found a Early Bumblebee on the ground outside the main entrance and the poor wee thing was soddened. I potted it up and took it home to dry out.

Hi Dave, i've had them flying in late February/early March every year since i first found them. Think there was only one previous site recorded for Scotland prior to that.

Thanks Ruth. They're one of the Bagworm group and the caterpillars feed on Lichens.

Bankesia conspurcatella : 1 of at least 6 flying around this morning, outside Anniesland Dental Care, Crow Rd. I found this colony several years ago and it still remains the only known site for this species in Dunbartonshire VC99
