Back to the normal 'dark & dreary' weather of Glasgow but the time of year means there's still new emergences to be found.

It's the other way round for me. Seen plenty of LC plants but none are flowering yet.

3 of 9 #foxes seen on my walk back from Clydebank.
The 2nd one is the one that's blind in its right eye that i saw a couple of weeks back.
It's just wonderful to see things springing (no pun intended) into life!

It's something i've done for years . Some species are easier than others but basically it's down to knowing the particular species requirements.
There should be more as the year progresses.
Cheers Chris. This species is a relatively easy one to rear.

Pleased to report another rearing result. Took a wee bit longer than the previous one due to the caterpillar being a lot smaller.

Definitely my favourite time of year with the start of fresh emergences on an almost daily basis. These 2 #inverts were both found at Lambhill Stables.
I will, thank you!

Sunday 1st March
My early morning walk drew a blank no thanks to the rain. I had to jump into Tesco on the way home and i'm glad i did as i found a Early Bumblebee on the ground outside the main entrance and the poor wee thing was soddened. I potted it up and took it home to dry out.
Fingers crossed you get lucky 🤞

Waxing Gibbous #moon from the living room window.
Glad the usual greyness cleared up revealing a nice clear sky.
Hi Dave, i've had them flying in late February/early March every year since i first found them. Think there was only one previous site recorded for Scotland prior to that.
01.03.2026 05:30 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0There's no shortage of them that's for sure.
28.02.2026 19:37 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Thanks Ruth. They're one of the Bagworm group and the caterpillars feed on Lichens.

Bankesia conspurcatella : 1 of at least 6 flying around this morning, outside Anniesland Dental Care, Crow Rd. I found this colony several years ago and it still remains the only known site for this species in Dunbartonshire VC99

Masses of leaves of Few-flowered Garlic. A naturalised and very invasive species. The banks of the River Kelvin are carpeted with them.
Summer Snowflake : a naturalised but not invasive species.
