Text on screen reads as follows: Medicinal plants from the Africa The background motif is formed of medicinal plants located on the African continent. Great care was taken to research ensuring that plants from across the continent were selected. among the featured elements, the mangrove forests for their rich biodiversity evidenced by numerous varieties that could be located across the African continent as well as across the Caribbean. By incorporating mangroves into the mural, we honour the intertwined histories of African and Caribbean people in Britain and the broader context of pan - African politics.
Text reads as follows: African Women in the British Health Sector Through this project we were able to uncover the lives and experiences of African women who worked in the health sector in the UK between 1930 - 2000. African women had a wide range of experiences within the NHS. Our documentary explores their childhood and migration stories, their training and careers in healthcare, and general facets of life in Britain as Black women.
Last Saturday, members of YHP went to the event 'Painted with Care: Celebrating African Women in British Healthcare' at The Africa Centre, to commemorate our project: 'African Women in British Healthcare, 1930 - 2000'. #EachOneTeachOne✊🏿
