I agree, something like the Director from Destiny or at least the galaxy map from Mass Effect would have been ideal imo.
Like I've been looking for the Crimson Fleet's base and checking all the systems without being able to find it. Quick access or indicators over a flattened map would have helped.

Absolutely, just wish the rest of the game would be as pleasing as its visual, navigating the star map, loadings and so on are still doing this game a disservice.
Hopefully this will be improved with a more focused experience if they do a Starfield 2 one day.

In these past few weeks, I mostly played linear FPS games, from Prey (2006), Quake 4, Golden Eye 64, F.E.A.R, Timeshift and so on, truly had a blast! ๐
I really wanted something simple, accessible, no RPG mechanic, no quest, just a cool story with some hits moments, linear corridors and explosion ๐ฅ

This might be related to our occidental work culture & environment. People rarely spend many years in the same company therefore there's less incentive to coach younger designers for them to leave.
In Japan it's quite different. With less turnovers, coaching Juniors is seen as long-term investment.
