A visitor came to my garden a little bit ago. She nibbled on my flower beds a bit, but I let her be since she's looking a bit on the skinny side. They're predicting a colder than normal Winter this year. She needs to plump up!

Nature is teaching me patience today. I stepped outside to go mow the lawn and it started raining. The sun started shining and I thought - maybe, just maybe - since it was such a brief rain shower I could still mow the lawn...

It was a hot Summer day. The heat pressed down, the breeze pulled it away, and the sky kept shifting with every moment of sun igniting, shade soothing. Standing there photographing the lily, I felt like the day itself was breathing. A close-up photograph of a vibrant orange Asiatic lily in full bloom. Its wide petals are speckled with darker freckles near the center, glowing like fire against the green leaves surrounding it. Dappled sunlight and moving shadows ripple across the petals, creating a shifting play of light. The flower stands tall, vivid, and alive, with the sense of a summer breeze stirring through the scene.

I like to sauté them in a touch of real butter with garlic and onion. If I'm in the mood for sweet & sour I'll drizzle with a bit of balsamic vinegar =)

Both! The younger, tender leaves are delicious raw in salads They’ve got a mild, earthy flavor, but they older leaves get more bitter as they age. Similar to spinach and other leafy greens in that sense.

This morning, as the wind blew gently caressing the morning glories and I took this photograph, I felt the weight of my parents’ aging. Sadness, acceptance, and beauty, all at once. What an odd feeling.

I captured this beet leaf just after the rain. The droplets looked like tiny jewels. 🌱 Beyond their beauty, beet leaves are loaded with vitamins A, C & K, plus minerals like calcium and iron. Too good to toss aside after roasting the roots
