Climate misinformation/disinformation is now a major threat to societal action on #climatechange.
How should we respond to organized efforts to sow doubt and forestall action?

They said we had until 2050.
They made pledges.
They made a few changes.
They advertised their progress and "solutions".
But, they continued to build out global fossil fuel extraction.
The math is still mathing, and it's not in our favor...

The goal of the 2016 Paris Agreement is to hold #climatechange as close as possible to 1.5ΒΊ C & well under 2.0ΒΊ C, reaching #NetZero emissions by 2050 (it keeps getting hotter until Net Zero is reached).
They anticipated having 30+ yrs, but we're blowing it in 10!

Climate change will kill 99% of coral if we reach 2.0ΒΊC (We are headed for ~3.1ΒΊ +/- by 2100, likely passing 2.0ΒΊ in the 2040s.
Sunscreen issue is real, but it will be the least of our problems.
A rare bit of GOOD NEWS for climate? We're still looking into this but it would appear that governments agreed to a binding international agreement (w/penalties for non-compliance) to de-carbonize the maritime shipping sector.

They're critical for water quality, salmon and forests. But did you know we have a rare population of saltwater beavers in our region? π
Today is #WorldWaterDay and the theme this year is Glacier Preservation.
According to the UN:
Glacier preservation is a survival strategy. We must work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and manage meltwater more sustainably for people and the planet.

EPA as an administrative agency only implements laws, they do not make them. Congress does.
EPA can make or revoke regulations to implement laws but can't do so in an arbitrary or capricious fashion. If they do so they will lose in court.
This is where Chevron decision cuts both ways -no deference!
"EPA reverses pollution laws".....?

"The analysis estimates that between 4% and 14% of the worldβs staple crops of wheat, rice and maize is being lost due to the pervasive particles. It could get even worse, the scientists said, as more microplastics pour into the environment."

We all need to pay attention! The word #climate is coming to mean so many things: #EVs, #wind, #solar, tree planting, #offsets.

...And the #fossilfuel industry is expanding!
