In it, I summarize parts of our recent perspective article on neural manifolds (www.nature.com/articles/s41...), with a focus on highlighting just a few cool insights into the brain we've already seen at the population level.

To predict the behaviour of a primate, would you rather base your guess on a closely related species or one with a similar brain shape? We looked at brains & behaviours of 70 species, youโll be surprised!

Awesome work!! Can BRISC detect both sources and targets between all the infected neurons? Or is it one-way only?
21.07.2025 17:00 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 01/ Mapping synaptic connectivity between individual neurons is extremely laborious. We developed BRISC, a new method that makes it possible to map inputs onto 100s of neurons in the same animal in a matter of weeks! Led by Alex Becalick and @antblot.bsky.social. ๐งต

Universities and Researchers Save The World All the Time
In July 2025 Superman once again saved the world on the big screen. Luckily for us, humanity's ranks are filled with real superheroes who are saving the world every day (to less cinematic fanfare.)

Textbook neuroscience teaches that anatomy dictates function. But which aspects of anatomy determine differences in function between species? We think neuroscience is now well-placed to tackle this question. Here is our attempt at one piece of the puzzle: www.nature.com/articles/s42...

Maybe the issue is that we no longer have a narrow view on things determined exclusively by a small group of white men.
It is hard to "disrupt" the consensus nowadays, because it is broader and more inclusive, which is a VERY good thing.
