I also think it's worth looking at where the law is—not because I think law or the courts will save us, but because 1) a lot of awful stuff is legal for ICE because of past admins, and 2) there have been wins in court that have made real, material differences to people.

To clarify on my end, most (I don't have better stats right now because I'm not on my laptop) ICE agents on the street held the position previously—or, are not new hires. Going from ICE violence before (BAD) to ICE now (SOMEHOW EVEN WORSE) is useful to pay attention to in order to stop it, I think.

I have a lot of questions about what is "allowed" vs what is policy vs what is practice with these and other kinds of cops, and my guess is as pending cases progress we'll learn more. But my guess for stuff like this, right now, is largely a lack of training over rules.
