If SNAP benefits vanished tomorrow, feeding 42 million Americans for a month would cost about $7.8 billion.That’s less than 1% of the combined net worth of the three richest men in the U.S. A reminder of how obscene inequality has become and how easily hunger could be solved if we chose to.

1 in 5 kids rely on snap

I looked it up once. SNAP takes 2% of the US budget and 93% of the money goes to the actual poor people instead of to the bureaucracy. So it's kind of like if you paid $1000 in taxes, you spent $20 on the poor of which they got to keep $18.60, and you spent $166.66 on the military.

SNAP is probably the most effective federal dollar we spend in terms of long term domestic economic outcomes.

that isn’t why you should support it; you should support it because it is a moral imperative to feed the hungry.

but it’s why even a growth-oriented ghoul shouldn’t oppose it.

No one "deserves it" but it bears repeating that almost 1/2 of adult SNAP recipients are white, and children make up 40% of the total recipients. 1.2 million veterans depend on SNAP. Able-bodied adults are less than 10% of SNAP recipients and can only claim it temporarily, under certain conditions.

I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.

Today marks the first day of early voting in Texas! For the November 4 election, the early voting window runs from October 20 to October 31.

Make your voice heard, check your polling location, bring one of the approved photo IDs, and vote early.

DLD is different in each child, but looking back many parents remember a time that their child's language stood out, like Nichole here who noticed her child struggling with literacy and spoken sentences.

We’ve now heard that most of the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) at ED is being let go as well. The harm caused to students if these layoffs are allowed to proceed cannot be overstated. ED cannot carry out its statutorily required duties without these offices.

The end of federal enforcement of special ed laws. Some states - including MN - will likely be ok. But a lot of disabled kids in a lot of states are going to lose the education that federal law and decades of jurisprudence say they are owed.
