UPDATE: I posted before looking at others’ replies. My gender was listed as “prefer not to say” and I could change it. But also not sure if I had ever set it up to begin with.

Just checked the workplace email for a freelance client, and gender is an option in my profile still.

This company is not US-based, but also not sure if I’m looking in the right spot since that’s not pronoun-specific.

As a former editor who heard a lot of my newsroom coworkers tell angry readers, “it’s on the opinion page, that’s why it’s an opinion, and why we put opinion all in caps before the online headline,” I’m so worried about how the public will perceive these pieces.

I really don’t like the “is this person being cold toward me because they’re transphobic, or do they just not like me, or maybe they just don’t want to have to think about how my life is in danger all the time” thoughts that come along with being trans in the current climate.
