Their actions are a perfect example of biblical idolatry, worshiping a golden calf while ignoring the actual teachings of the god they profess to follow.

Not sure how large they are, but The Atlantic and The Guardian US are pretty good for daily news, and ProPublica is great for in-depth investigative journalism.

Yep, this is why I didn’t bother with the paywall. They’re still normalizing these insane things he does, even as they write articles that supposedly “take him down”.

My favorite place to read is my bed right before I sleep, which turned out to be a very unfortunate place to read this one. I ended up finishing it on the couch in the middle of a sunny afternoon to save my sanity after three sleepless nights.

Add a tornado warning to that list over here in Illinois. The thunderstorm cooled things down quite a bit and passed through early enough that sleep was back on the menu. Hope it got better for you too!

Just finished Staircase in the Woods by Chuck Wendig. It was great but as with most horror books, I’m glad it’s over so I can get some sleep. I wrote a song earlier this year called Tear It Down that I think pairs nicely with the book. A very “demo” version is available for streaming everywhere.

But do we have to create things that aren’t protest songs? I can’t escape the cycle of pouring my rage into “just one more then I’ll stop I promise”.

When I read posts like “we need big huge protests like [insert country here]” it makes me sad. The US is having huge multi-million people protests but it’s such a huge country that we can’t logistically be in the same city so it looks like we’re luke warm about what’s happening here.

The P90’s are a bit too much for most of the folky music we play. My husband was going to try to shield it to cut down on some of the buzz but we never figured out how to get to the electronics 🤣 you’ve got me wanting to plug it in and rock out today 🎸🔥

I ditched my half-read third book in a series to start reading Staircase in the Woods and woke up 2 hours later than usual today. Those two facts are related 😄

But some of us stopped leaving the house during the pandemic and never picked up the habit again. I’m stuck wearing 2019 band tees and the same pair of jeans until they fall apart.

I feel dead. You might be on to something.

It’s weird to watch my whole world end in slow motion from my comfy couch, one news article at a time, powerless to stop it.

If you consider yourself to be a powerful voice in the resistance and you’re creating content that’s useful to the resistance but you hide it behind a paywall, I’m sorry to inform you that you’re just another grifter.

For now, yes. But I think part of the point they’re trying to make is that if the Democrats are in charge again in the future, do MAGA folks want the government to control the lawyers and universities and ship dissidents to off-shore prisons without due process?

I wish we could get rid of the red vs blue (and blue vs blue) mentality. I think we have to think of it as sane folks vs MAGA if we’re going to take our country back. I welcome everyone who realizes that this awfulness isn’t making us great.

I wonder why he decided to wear that hat and then say those words. Was the hat a conscious choice so the senator who would see him as the friendly ally in the room? If he’s former MAGA, he’s a perfect example of the people we need right now. He can help deprogram the cultists in a way I can’t.

I had a very religious upbringing, being taught from birth that humans are intrinsically evil and Satan whispers in everyone’s ear and only Christians can resist it. I overcame it with the help of a dear friend who showed me how to have empathy. That was something I hadn’t encountered before.

We throw around the word “cult” a lot without really meaning it. But these folks *are* in a cult. Maybe that indicates a weakness on their part. I was bullied as a kid & at one time at bible camp I joined a group that was bullying someone else. So I know I have that weakness inside myself too.

Why do people keep using phrases like “the rule of law is in danger” about the president ignoring a SCOTUS ruling? The rule of law is dead and will need a resurrection spell, not a healing potion. I’m not giving up, but we need to stop being so cautious about how we talk about this disaster.

To be fair, they were (and still are) also gaslighting themselves. My MAGA family still insists I’m overreacting and have TDS. Reality and truth have no meaning.

To be clear, I’m dealing with it. But my brain feels like it’s already so overloaded and I’m just on autopilot, unable to process beyond doing what needs to be done in the moment. I’m a planner, a think-ahead person and I just can’t do that today.

My 87 yo mother broke her leg yesterday. It’s a complicated fracture so it took a while to find a bed at a hospital with a surgeon who can handle it. There’s other interesting stuff to share if anyone is curious but bottom line is, I feel like I don’t have mental bandwidth for a family emergency.
