Thoughts like: "The music on 4-3 sounds so familiar", "It really would be weird for someone to play this and see luigi everywhere if they didn't know about the year of luigi", or "Why is the cat suit here and the best thing you can wear if this is otherwise a very clean and corporate mario game?"

My resolution this year was to finish more games. Instead of finishing anything I started last year I'm playing Mario 3d World + Bowser's fury. It's so far a very thought provoking experience... I don't think any of them are ones nintendo intended.

Every time I see someone say "This looks like a ps2 game" I start to feel like nobody has ever looked at a ps2 game.

The first Jak and Daxter game is probably one of my favorite collectathons ever and I'd argue it's easily a top 3 contender.

I'm not terribly familiar with the franchise so I can't say. I'm not really sure it ever had a strict mainline outside of having numbered titles.

I need to go make some corrections then. This is the last time I trust a youtube essayist to know the difference.

I had always imagined that SH fans were being a bit over the top when they talked about the later entries not really being the same...

Plumbers Don't Wear Ties makes so much more sense when you find out it is a port of a dos game instead of something created specifically for the 3do.

I never understood the hate for fan sounds. I find it at worst cozy and otherwise drowned out by game audio.

To each their own.

I might have been thinking of the dreamcast fan mod that doesn't give sufficient airflow, but I tend to avoid those mods regardless.

Doesn't the hawk tua fan mod cause overheating because the ps2 doesn't provide enough voltage to properly drive the fan?

Nobody has suggested Sly Cooper yet, the whole trilogy is pretty fun. Radiata Stories is also good if you like rpgs with action combat.

Aside from a few errors like the first boss and "this guy are sick" I don't remember seeing anything egregious.

I highly recommend getting a dualshock 3 or other ps3 controller. The drivers are a bit of a pain to set up for the first time, but analogue buttons are nice to have for the times they come up in ps2 games.

To be very fair to sitting ducks, the show looks like that.

It admittedly sticks in my head primarily for the hilarious clash between the American box art and how the game looks. Otherwise, it's a pretty fun puzzler where you build chambers of treasure and try to plan ahead for how blocks will fall once the treasure blocks are cleared.

I feel like my picks are a bit basic, but I stand by them. I also highly recommend that anyone seeing this look up the actual boxart for the North American version of Cleopatra Fortune.

Heads-up, peeps. If you enjoy the sweet snowfall and interface of ZSNES but not its inaccuracy and hacky ways of doing things, there's a version called ZMZ that uses Libretro cores of SNES9X (included) or BSNES for its emulation but retains the interface.

It will never not piss me off that if you want to write fiction you either have to do so in a commercial space (either charging up front or competing on a top chart for views) or you are obligated if not required to write about someone else's characters and setting.
