05.12.2025 07:17 β π 46 π 16 π¬ 1 π 4This is my review of the PC version released three years ago, but re-platforming it for the new 'International' release.
Minstrel Song is badass lol
An NPC in Rimuldar says they created the Magic Key but accidentally dropped it in the ocean. It's a funny implication that the Mermaid's reward for saving them is something that fell to them.
05.12.2025 03:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0hey i wrote a thing
massively disappointed in supertrick and gungho for what would have otherwise been a decent (but still not quite hitting the mark) let it die followup
Who isn't playable, Sonia?
04.12.2025 22:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0H/T @quinton.bsky.social for a really big assist here!
04.12.2025 16:05 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If you're looking for something in Octopath Traveler 0, I probably found it and cataloged it. Bookmark this page to help you out later.
I also wrote out all of the Path Actions in the game. Is that a lot of work? Yes. Is it useful? Not sure! But I did it.
You probably just fought the red chaos worm thing? That's definitely the start of it! (Small spoiler, you can eventually fight two of those together).
04.12.2025 15:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The second half of the game is very particularly designed. Some people bounce off of it. A big part of it is in boss encounter design, where you have to figure out a strategy to win (and not just overlevel). I personally appreciately it greatly, but it does somewhat belie its Final Fantasy inspo.
04.12.2025 15:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Don't want to spoil too much, but more like 30%. Part 2 is much longer than Part 1.
04.12.2025 15:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Nice!
04.12.2025 15:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Where are they going?
04.12.2025 15:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ah sorry! I didn't have this one since it technically wasn't announced for the west by a publisher, but since they revealed it is coming to Steam, it seems all-but-announced.
04.12.2025 05:19 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ach sorry, I'm not sure how I missed that considering it's my own Most Anticipated.
04.12.2025 05:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Vote in our poll! If you want to. It's just a quick Google Form, takes less than a minute, probably. Let me know if something is missing~
02.12.2025 18:35 β π 12 π 2 π¬ 2 π 0One of my favorite RPG tropes is when the battle music changes during the course of a high stakes boss battle. You can't help but pump a fist when the OST transitions from <Daughter of the Dark God> to <Battle at Journey's End>. hell yea
03.12.2025 21:02 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1I actually appreciate that, since this track was specifically added for Octopath 0, it avoids being overused throughout the (long) course of the game, making it feel special when it does decide to grace a boss battle.
03.12.2025 20:54 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Weird day at work tbh
03.12.2025 19:19 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's an interesting case study on how *years* of mobile game content can be packaged and manifested as a console game.
03.12.2025 15:27 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If I may risk an analogy, which are never perfect, Octopath Traveler 0 kinda feels like Square Enix taking a look in the refrigerator and deciding how to take leftovers and whatever else they have and mix it together and make a dish, and it comes out actually pretty well, if unorthodox.
03.12.2025 15:27 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Octopath Traveler 0 is a monstrous frankenstein of a game where you can readily see the seams from its reheated construction of a mobile game. But the end result is an endearing experimental swing-for-the-fences multi-arc story that grows on you, despite the blemishes. Here's James' review:
03.12.2025 15:27 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I did add it to the poll, so you can choose it now! It'll probably be more formally announced at Falcom's investor/shareholding meeting this month (December 18) while the poll is running, anyhow.
02.12.2025 19:01 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's pretty fun seeing the results come in real time, not gonna lie.
02.12.2025 18:50 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ah right, I didn't have it because it technically hasn't been announced for the west, but it's pretty much all-but-confirmed.
02.12.2025 18:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Vote in our poll! If you want to. It's just a quick Google Form, takes less than a minute, probably. Let me know if something is missing~
02.12.2025 18:35 β π 12 π 2 π¬ 2 π 0The time has come. What's your pick for the best RPG of 2025? What is your most anticipated RPG for 2026? Vote in our Readers' Choice awards!
Poll will be open throughout the month of December: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeWvhmn3HbzE_fYe-jUEZ8Q-VS5EflUKzDihaL17rEnYciHWg/viewform
I'm too busy to participate in the daily discourse.
01.12.2025 22:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah it's languages (FIGS text, JP voice) and the physical retail version availability. The game is otherwise the same. Admittedly it's a bit of an oddball release - technically not published by Square Enix, a separate SKU entirely, no PC version.
01.12.2025 18:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Have I mentioned that I think Minstrel Song is one of the best RPGs ever made? Yes, I have: www.rpgsite.net/review/13681...
01.12.2025 17:37 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We got a chance to speak with both Red Art Games and Square Enix's Akitoshi Kawazu about how the International version of Romancing SaGa Minstrel Song Remastered came to be.
